One of the frustrating things about switching from an old Nokia to Android is the difficulty of transferring your old messages to the new system.
Here is a step-by-step method
Here is a step-by-step method
- Download Nokia suite http://www.nokia.com/global/support/nokia-suite/. The site suggests the Nokia PC suite which is OK too, but it's very slightly different interface http://www.nokia.com/global/support/nokia-pc-suite/
- Connect your old Nokia phone to the PC (if you don't have a suitable connector then try via Bluetooth) and open the Nokia suite.
- From Tools -> Backup (File -> Backup if you're on the PC suite), create a .nbu backup of your phone data (you only need the option that includes Messages).
- Download NbuExplorer and install it on your PC.
- After the installation, run NbuExplorer.
- From File -> Open navigate till you find the backup file you created in step 3 and open it.
- Go to "Messages" tab and click on "Export Messages" icon. It's a like a disk located on the top left corner of the right pane, right above the table that contains the messages.
- Save as "Android 'SMS Backup & Restore' XML format".
- Copy the generated XML file into your android device.
- From the Play Store, download "SMS Backup & Restore" app on your Android device https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&hl=en
- From the app, select Restore and navigate until you find the XML file and use it to generate the messages, and that's it.
